The fans thought Sarkodie will give out a thrilling performance as it marked the 20th edition of the award firm for rewarding hardwork and excellence in Ghanaian music which went otherwise.
This turn down by Sarkodie made ways in the media and all the huge news broadcasting firms.
In recent interview with Andy Dosty on DaybreakHitz on Hitz fm, Sarkodie has explained why the turn down and his regret performing on that stage. Also, he added; “I may not perform at the VGMA’s again until further notice”.
According to Sarkodie, he said he had told the directors he wanted the young champs whom he featured in his bibiiba song to do the unexpected. However, the directors could not meet his demand providing or putting individual lights on each of the young rappers he brought on stage. Another challenge according to him is the situation where his young artistes weren’t heard since their microphones were not loud enough.
With regards to Sarkodie, he thinks the challenges they encountered actually affected both his performance and brand. This has actually made him vow of performing at that ceremony until they learn to do things right.
