Broadcaster and #Fixthecountry convener Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has expressed his views about the current state of the creative arts sector in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Neat fm, he stated that creative art is a tool in national development and also one of the major instrument for changing the mindset and immoral attitude of people.
Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah explained that, if the creative art sector is given the maximum attention needed, it can fetch the country a revenue not less than three billion dollars annually. About changing the mindset and immoral attitude of people, he said these can corrected through through our films and music.
He further stated, without the creative arts, tourism will never grow. He gave reason that, for tourism grow, our tourist sites, culture and traditions can be portray to the world through movies, photography, painting and music.
According to him, our politicians does not know the importance of Creative arts because the 2004 national development policy and others refused to capture creative arts, therefore they consider creative arts as a side business instead of main business.
He said, for the Ghanaian creative arts to grow, the ministry must have a national policy dialogue with stakeholders in the industry to be able to identify problems and also give solutions to them.
